The Most important things to remember are:

Avoid “Vendor Tag” (OR Passing the buck)

In the self-service automation market a single vendor cannot provide all the pieces. A number of participants have to work together to deliver the best-fit solution. This in itself creates a risk for the deployer.

The Figure above is an illustrative example to show how susceptible a deployer is to the Vendor Tag situation. This example is for the rapidly growing financial service industry but can be applied with minor changes to other industries like Retail, Entertainment, and Healthcare. As a result the
enterprise looking to deploy a self-service solution (network) has a huge challenge to identify and engage the right vendor(s). Even then a lot of time and money must be spent to integrate the components.

Rule 1
Avoid “Vendor Tag” at all cost. Choose a provider with experience in Self-Service and who is unbiased toward traditional ATM technology. A ‘Self-Service’ system is not a PC on the Internet.
